Digital tickets with just one click – with or without an app

Either the public transport app can be used to buy tickets or, alternatively and even faster, the Fast Lane Ticketing system.
Here, the ticket purchase is initiated via a QR code that is attached to the bus stop or the machine, for example.
In both cases, the purchase is made with just one click on the mobile phone bill and the ticket is provided directly on the mobile phone and can be used to start your journey.

Carrier Billing is in Germany under “ Zahl einfach per Handyrechnung “, a joint initiative of the German mobile network operators Telefónica Deutschland, Telekom, mobilcom-debitel and Vodafone, in Austria under “Zahlen per Handyrechnung”, as a joint initiative of the Austrian mobile network operators A1, Drei and Magenta.

Both solutions allow the ticket to be paid for with just one click.
The mobile number is used to clearly identify the passenger and to bill the ticket, without any registration or additional input of additional data.

More than 70 percent of all tickets sold in local public transport are single tickets, short-distance tickets and day tickets. These tickets can usually be obtained via an app, which, however, does not reach all passengers.

Especially for occasional passengers who do not want to download and use an app to buy tickets, the initiation via scan of QR code is particularly convenient and fast.

Carrier billing for the public transportation sector.

The passenger buys a ticket, for example a single ticket for € 2.60.
The ticket is billed via DIMOCO’s connection to the mobile network operator.
For contract customers, the amount is billed to the monthly mobile phone bill, while prepaid users are debited immediately from their credit balance.

“Paying by mobile phone bill has emerged as the primary means of payment for in-app ticket sales over the past few years and is now the most popular payment option for occasional drivers.”

says Anja Wenmakers, Managing Director of SWB Bus und Bahn and SWB Mobil in Bonn .

“The mobile payment method has been in use in Leipzig for years and is an enrichment in the mix of payment methods , as it offers customers an uncomplicated way of making a purchase and also makes those customers accessible to us who, for example, would not otherwise be able to purchase tickets due to lack of an account. In general, app sales and thus cashless payments are growth drivers with steadily increasing importance.

says Sandy Brachmann, Head of Marketing at Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB) GmbH.
